Abstract
- The author discusses how the framework of competition and selection can be used to make up for the variation and the role of competing I-grammars in creole genesis, examining the synchronic and diachronic data and language acquisition considering the auxiliary system of Cape Verdean Creole (CVC). Topics include the definition of the creole continuum, a definition of I-language considering the competing I-grammars, and propose a syntactic analysis of the synchronic distribution of CVC.
