Abstract
- The author describes how to keep the fire to make the most steam in steam locomotives. He says that his first assignment as a fireman was to maintain steam and water on a night-shift switch engine in Ash Fork, Arizona, in 1941. An engineer he met in the third district between Winslow and Seligman, Arizona, showed him how to handle the water level.
