Abstract
- Les Levine's was the first artwork to reflect on Duchamp's Étantdonnés after it had initially gone on public display. Opposing the temporary ban on photography of Duchamp's project, Levine surreptitiously took photographs from both right and left peepholes and combined them to create a stereoscopic image of the work. With the permission of Duchamp's widow, Teeny Duchamp, Levine produced a multiple for publication in a Chicago magazine the following year as what he termed an 'edited version' of the original.
