- The article explores the 18th and 19th century history of the state, federalism, slavery, capitalism, and economics up until the start of the U.S. Civil War, taking into consideration English-speaking North America. Topics include British colonial policies, governance, the interrelationship between authority and locale, social history, nation states, and state formation.
