Abstract: The article offers information on the importance of atmospheric rivers (ARs) in global sciences and its applications in the U.S. The topics discussed include the advances in hydrology and atmospheric rivers, the key role of ARs in the determination of the precipitation events distributions and an overview of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography held in La Jolla, California held from August 8-11, 2016.
