New Thiophene Acetylene from Echinops spinosissimus subsp. spinosus.

A new thiophene acetylene, named 2,2-dimethyl-4-[5′-(prop-1-ynyl)-2,2′-bithiophen-5-yl]-1,3-dioxolane ( 1), was isolated from the roots of Echinops spinosus, and the structure was elucidated on the basis of oneand two-dimensional NMR (including H, C NMR, DEPT, H-H COSY, HSQC, and HMBC).
