Business process reengineering.

The article focuses on the classification of business process reengineering (BPR) literature into different streams. Articles which appeared in academic and scholarly journals are considered for the grouping. In times wherein the abstract is not clear, original article is read for the purpose of the initial screening. Research done in the area of BPR are grouped into four research streams. The first research stream deals with the definition and overview of articles on BPR. In the second research stream, the entire range of normative studies done by practitioners is covered. Third research stream focuses on the development of methods for assessment and implementation of BPR. The fourth research stream deals with the successful implementation of practices of BPR by manufacturing and service organizations.
