The above article is an attempt to analyze the influence of tens in which the auxiliary verb appears on the aspectual value of the periphrastic construction. We have analyzed some periphrases expressing different aspectual values and shown that in some cases the aspectual value of a periphrase depends on the tens of the auxiliary verb (basic opposition: Pretérito Imperfeito vs. Pretérito Perfeito Simples). We have used the classification of auxiliary verbs by Maria Helena Mira Mateus (1983). In the detailed analysis of the aspectual values of different periphrases we have taken into account the semantic value of the verb (classification by Zeno Vendler 1967). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
