Team Proactive Personality and Team Performance: the Effect of Collaborative Job Crafting.

Abstract

Based on team composition theory and job crafting research, this study built and examined a comprehensive moderated mediation model in a sample of 88 construction management teams consisting of 88 team leaders and 429 subordinates, linking team proactivity personality with team performance via collaborative job crafting and the moderating effect of empowering leadership. The results show that team mean proactive personality is positively related to team performance. In addition, collaborative job crafting fully mediates the relationship between team mean proactive personality and team performance. Furthermore, the relationship between team mean proactive personality and collaborative job crafting is moderated by empowering leadership. Finally, empowering leadership moderates the mediation effect, in that the positive mediation effect of collaborative job crafting is stronger when empowering leadership is high than it is low.
