Abstract
- The article demonstrates the French tradition of anarchic black humor that has lived on in such satirical comics magazines as "Charlie Hebdo (CH)." Topics covered include the genealogy of the troubled relationship between anarchy, oppression, and black humor in French comics, the different psychical purposes of black humor, and the treatment by CH of Islam that is consistent with its own leftist principles.
