Abstract

In this paper, we studied the effectiveness of the countermeasures which are appropriated to the type of distribution network configuration for the reverse power flow caused by large penetration of PV to the power system. In this paper, the genetic algorithm (GA), which is one of a metaheuristic approach, is used for optimization for deciding the position of installing SVR, switching the power network and finding the optimal characteristic of distribution. Furthermore, two optimization methods are developed and compared. In the first method, network configuration is decided first without installation of voltage control devices. Voltage configuration devices are located optimally on the obtained network configuration. In the second method, closing all section switches, imaginary mesh network is made. Voltage control devices are located optimally on the imaginary network. Network configuration is optimized at last. The proposed method is tested in the distribution system model of residential area that have 4-banks and 176-nodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
