Abstract

The article discusses the importance of immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domain containing receptor 1 (ILDR1) gene for urine concentration mechanism and paracellular water transport. Topics include the significance of tricellular tight junction for water permeation, the impact of genetic knockout of Ildr1 in the kidney of mouse, and the therapeutic strategy to maintain water homeostasis.
