Abstract
- This letter proposes a novel toroidal plasma lens with circular polarization, as an alternative solution for electronic warfare antennas. The aim of the proposed solution is to reduce the antenna profile and the radar cross section, thus minimizing the probability of target detection. The results compare the performance of the proposed antenna to a conical horn and to a spherical/elliptical lens. The toroidal plasma lens achieved equivalent gain, with reduced antenna profile and reduced near-field backscattering from the plasma toroid, thus maximizing the true power delivered to the far-field region.
