Abstract
- Pictorial depth perception of Tanzanian children in grades 1, 3, 5, and 7 was investigated using 2 versions of Hudson's pictures-the original version, widely used in prior studies of pictorial depth perception in developing countries, and a revised version, using the same depth cues but with familiar characters in neutral poses. Revised-version scores were higher and increased with grade; original-version scores were very low in all grades. Urban children scored higher than children from a remote area. Earlier studies showing severe and continuing deficits must be reinterpreted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
