Abstract

This paper reports the effect of BiO addition as a sintering aid to lower the sintering temperature of SrCuSiO ceramics, as well as the sintering behavior, microstructure, phase evolution and dielectric properties of SrCuSiO ceramics were investigated. The BiO addition significantly reduced the sintering temperature of SrCuSiO ceramics from 1100 to 950 °C. Small amount of BiO addition could promote the densification of SrCuSiO ceramics. However, excessive BiO addition caused the abnormal grain growth, leading to deteriorate dielectric properties. The τ constantly shifted towards the positive direction with increasing the amount of BiO additions. The SrCuSiO ceramics with 3.0 wt% BiO addition sintered at 950 °C for 6 h showed excellent dielectric properties: ε ~ 6.26, tanδ = 3.1 × 10 and τ value of 122.90 ppm/°C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
