Abstract
- The article investigates the temporal pumping artifact (TPA) induced by digital video coding using H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC standards and proposes a visual-masking-based method to estimate regions with perceptible TPA. Topics include temporal distortions stated to have significant effects on visual quality of videos and are detrimental to visual comfort, and an algorithm for estimating the regions with perceptible TPA stated to have been proposed for head-and-shoulder video sequences.
