Abstract

This paper proposes a method for online diagnosis and localization of high-resistance connection (HRC) in permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) with an improved fault indicator. In the proposed method, the amplitude and initial phase angle of zero-sequence voltage component are both analyzed. Based on the analysis, the fault indicator with angle difference is defined for fault diagnosis and localization. It is shown that not only the HRC can be detected, but also the fault severity can be assessed and the faulty phases can be identified in this method. The simulation and experiment are carried out to verify the theoretical analysis. Both the results show that the proposed method can be effectively applied for online detection and identification of the HRC in the PMSM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
