Abstract
- The adverse health effects of air pollution are of increasing concern. Many studies show that air pollution causes not only unfavourable respiratory effects in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other lung conditions, but also cardiovascular effects such as myocardial infarction and stroke. This paper presents the evaluation of association between residential exposure to traffic and lung-function. Our results were robust to adjustment for several factors, including indoor sources of air pollution and socioeconomic status. In conclusion, the possibility of confounding by other factors still exists and further investigations are needed to corroborate our results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
