Abstract

A biography of Professor Jan Winberg is presented. He was born in 1923 in Stockholm, and trained at the Karolinska Hospital in the city to become a paediatrician. He did research work on urinary tract infection (UTI) focusing on things like its diagnosis, the importance of faecal bacterial flora in it, and the promotion of breastfeeding by him. He also started a clinic that provided services for children with UTI.
