Abstract

The article offers information on the issuance of the final rule on respirable crystalline silica exposure standards for construction and general industry/maritime in the U.S. on March 25, 2016. An estimated 2.3 million workers are being exposed to respirable crystalline silica in their workplaces, mainly in hydraulic fracturing and construction. Exposure can occur during grinding, cutting or drilling of silica-containing materials.
