The article discusses a meta-analysis of empirical studies on the rebound effect in road transportation. Topics covered include improvements in fuel efficiency, the magnitude of rebound effect estimates in relation to the time horizon considered in the study, and the national-level estimates of the rebound effect for countries such as the U.S. as well as a small number of cross-country estimates for European countries and other countries such as Australia, Israel and Canada.
