Abstract

The article offers information on the reasons for creation of a federal advisory committee. Among the reasons discussed include to increase public participation and access to debates and discussions in policymaking, to avoid blame on political issues, and obtain fresh concepts from outside experts. It also mentions the advantage of such committees to federal agencies with technical or scientific agenda such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
