This article discusses the history of international trade relations between Spain and Asian and American markets, with a focus on the latter half of the 17th century. The author comments on the use of the Spanish flotillas in ocean shipping, particularly with its colonies in the Americas as well as the Philippines and other islands in the Pacific Ocean region.
