Abstract

Between 1945 and 1960 the Romanian Armed Forces underwent an ample restructuring process. Its coordinates were imposed from the outside, which led to decreasing the military body in terms of quantity and especially of quality. Its reform, starting in late 1944, was aimed, as the author mentions, at the human resource quantitative aspect. The strength of the military structures that participated in the war was reduced, while a significant number of Soviet large units were stationed in Romania. Following 20 September 1944, the Romanian troops were reduced to 120 000people. In 1945, the troops belonging to the 9th and 10th Infantry Divisions were also reduced. In 1940, they were part of the 2nd Army, and in the Second World War they fought not only on the Eastern but also on the Western Fronts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
