Abstract

Reports on the winter flounder, Pleuronectes americanus, which produces antifreeze proteins (AFP) to avoid freezing during winter. Synthesis of the AFP in the blood by the liver and regulation of the annual level by environmental factors and somatotropin; Mapping of residues important to DNA-protein interaction in element B by methylation interference; Mechanisms by which the tissue specificity of AFP gene expression can be achieved.
