Is it necessary to investigate rapamycin-modulated autophagy during the development of experimental osteoporosis in female rat?

A letter to the editor is presented in response to an article by D. Luo and colleagues on the impact of rapamycin on bone mineral density, in which they discussed substantial sex differences in pathophysiology of osteoporosis, and the need for a better investigation of rapamycin-modulated autophagy in female rats.
