Abstract
- The article reports that conservation of hippopotamus at the Virunga National Park, Republic of Congo is under threat by armed conflicts for more than 30 years. It is suggested that there is a decline in the number of common hippopotamus in the Virunga National Park. A survey providing information about hippopotamus population at the River Ishasha and River Rutshuru in Democratic Republic of the Congo is also presented.
