Abstract

Norms and guidelines on passive safety currently provide insufficient guidance on restoration, customisation or post-accident repair of vehicles. Vehicle rollover is usually considered to be one of the most complex cases. The analysis has shown very complex loads acting on the vehicle roof structure. Practice of vehicle post-accident servicing and design shows that the joint between roof structure and A-pillar is subjected to the most extreme damages. The paper pursues the aim of identifying rollover damages on roof structural elements and the influence of weld layout resulting from repair of vehicle roof A-pillar on the strength of safety frame during vehicle rollover. The methodology of strength test on vehicle roof support structure is presented in the body of the paper. Results generated during application of static compressive load to the vehicle roof structure are discussed in detail in the paper section dealing with the results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
