Abstract

The article discusses the challenge on South African winemakers to trade up and improve their wines' low average price point compared to other New World countries. Among the factors to be considered by winemakers include importance of engagement factor in retail business, focus on icon wineries and promotion of South Africa, and sustainability and fairtrade.
