Abstract
- There is a deep interest in the academic community on the state of different academic disciplines. There are many indicators of how a discipline is faring; example, full time graduate enrollment, number of doctorates awarded, job placements, amount of federal funds received for research, or relative growth in scientific research articles. This short paper will focus on one of those indicators -- receipt of federal funds for research -- and will explore what that indicator tells us about the discipline of political science and the other social sciences.
