Abstract

The reaction of 2-methylquinoline with 3,5-di- tert-butyl-1,2-benzoquinone afforded a mixture of 5,7-di- tert-butyl-3-hydroxy-2-(quinolin-2-yl)cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-one and previously unknown 10- tert-butylindolo[1,2- a]quinoline-8,11-dione. The structure of the latter was determined by two-dimensional heteronuclear correlation NMR spectroscopy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
