Abstract

Evaluates the adverse effects of the use of Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetics (EMLA) cream for the placement of jugular catheters in cats in the U.S. Blood methemoglobin concentrations of the treated cats; Absence of signs of gastrointestinal upset, neurologic signs, cyanosis, or distress; Efficacy of the cream in eliminating the usual signs of discomfort associated with venipuncture.
