Abstract

The article discusses the use of probiotics for treating ventilation-associated pneumonia (VAP). The article further discusses microorganisms as the main cause for this diseases, reduction of colonisation of the oropharynx and upper gastrointestinal tract are preventive strategies used for treatment and VAP is known to be the most well known intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired infection.
