Doppler velocimetry and backscattering spectroscopy according to a homodyne scheme using a single-mode Er fiber laser.

The prospects for the homodyne recording of backscattered radiation of an Er fiber laser in measuring velocity and in Doppler spectroscopy are investigated. The sensitivity and accuracy of measuring velocity are estimated. It is shown that this method can be used to control laser-induced hydrodynamic flows that form upon the laser evaporation of biotissues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
