Abstract

The article discusses the study conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the criminal and regulatory enforcement responsibilities of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). It mentions that ATF is responsible for enforcing criminal statues related to firearms and must balance its role in combatting the illegal use of firearms. GAO suggests that the ATF must provide guidance to federal firearms licensee (FFL) participating in Access 2000 (A2K).
