Usability Evaluation of Laboratory and Radiology Information Systems Integrated into a Hospital Information System.

The article presents a study evaluating the usability of laboratory information system (LIS) and radiology information system (RIS) embedded into a hospital information system (HIS). It mentions usability problems as the key reasons behind the deficiencies of such systems, several usability heuristics including consistency and standards, error prevention and visibility of system status, and some consequences arising from usability problems, one is delay in data entry and reporting of results.
