Abstract

The article presents a study which examined the incidence of thrombotic/thromboembolic conditions in a population-based cohort of adult Scandinavians with incident of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP). The variables considered include incidence rates of arterial thrombosis (AT) and venous thromboembolism (VTE), splenectomized and non-spectomized patients, and gender difference. A higher incidence of VTE in splenectomized patients is recorded.
