News Notes and Announcements.

The article presents news notes and announcements related to the field of rural sociology published in the March 1940 issue of the journal "Rural Sociology." Proceedings of the annual business meeting of the Rural Sociological Society, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1939, are provided in detail. The future of the official journal "Rural Sociology," was also discussed. Member C. Horace Hamilton moved that a continuing committee of seven or more be appointed to continue study of terminology and definitions and to prepare a statement of extent and types of tabulations for 1940 census materials. The election committee reported the election of John H. Kolb as president, T. Lynn Smith as secretary-treasurer, Paul H. Landis as a member of the teaching committee, Harold C. Hoffsommer as a member of the research committee, and Lowry Nelson as a member of the editorial board. The New England Conference on Family Relations will be held at Harvard University from July 24-26, 1940.
