Abstract
- The purpose of the article is to consider the possibility of using the notion "refraction" in the research of literary translation as a kind of intercultural communication. The author introduces this notion in philosophy of translation in reference with the notion "typological dominant of text", which is defined as the essential property of a text differentiating it from other types of texts. The typological dominant of literary texts is named "poeticity". The notion "refraction" is used metaphorically to describe and model the process of representing the source text poeticity in the target text. This process is investigated on the basis of the comparative analysis of source and target texts in English and Russian, which shows the possibility to distinguish three degrees of "refraction" of source texts poeticity in target texts. This results in the creation of a "refractive" model of literary translation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
