Abstract
- Rare earth doped Barium Titanate (BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>) were studied due to high permittivity, excellent electrical properties and have wide usage in various applications. This paper reviewed on the electrical properties of RE doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> (RE: Lanthanum (La), Erbium (Er), Samarium (Sm), Neodymium (Nd), Cerium (Ce)), processing method, phase transition occurred and solid solution range for complete study. Most of the RE doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> downshifted the Curie temperature (T<subscript>C</subscript>). Transition temperature also known as Curie temperature, T<subscript>C</subscript> where the ceramics had a transition from ferroelectric to a paraelectric phase. In this review, the dielectric constant of La-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>, Er-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>, Sm-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>, Nd-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> and Ce-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> had been proved to increase and the transition temperature or also known as T<subscript>C</subscript> also lowered down to room temperature as for all the RE doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> except for Er-doped BaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>.
