Abstract
- The purpose of this article is to propose a new concept of third- person spirituality and begin to better understand the role of spiritual intelligence. Often, spiritual intelligence can be guided by third persons who are believed to hold higher spiritual wisdom with various forms of spiritual training. This paper sheds light on the roles of both formal and informal spiritual agents and professionals. The empirical discussion in this paper also reports results from a small number of in-depth personal interviews with senior managers from various industries and third person spirituality professionals who are working both formally as registered business entities and informally consulting in their own homes. Findings suggest people seek spiritual guidance more in personnel and relational issues such as new hires, business alliances and partnership development in order to confirm matching energy and harmonious balance of a new employee within a company. On the other hand, difficulties in one's business situations, even bankruptcy or needed career changes are reported as dominant reasons for people to seek third person spirituality. These findings suggest that the new proposed conceptual framework presented in this work should embed third person spirituality under the broader context of intuitive decision making processes.
