From the Editor-in-Chief.

As you may know, the M Barry Carlton Award is bestowed on the authors of the best paper published in the IEEE Transactions of Aerospace and Electronic Systems (T-AES) for a given calendar year. The winners for the 2011 Award were announced in the February issue earlier this year. It is now my privilege to announce that the 2012 M Barry Carlton award winners are Kevin (Jim) Sangston, Fulvio Gini, and Maria (Sabrina) Greco for their paper entitled, "Coherent Radar Target Detection in Heavy-Tailed Compound-Gaussian Clutter."
