Abstract

The article discusses the management of learning curves in factories through the creation and transfer of knowledge. Studies show that productivity and quality improvement occurs at a decreasing rate in organizations as they gain experience with production. The author mentions that the logarithm of unit cost decreases with the logarithm of cumulative number of units produced at a uniform rate equal to that of learning. Multinational corporation, N.V. Bekaert, S.A., is discussed for its production process and efforts towards improving organizational learning curves. The author considers the global impact of conceptual and operation learning.
