Abstract

It was always thought that countries with abundant natural resources have faster process of growth and development compared to other countries; but, the experimental results show the success of countries that are poor in terms of natural resources. Therefore, the contradictory effects of natural resources in various countries prompted scientists to study the relationship between natural resources abundance and different aspects of development which led to significant results. The present study reviews the theories and achievements of different researchers about this issue. The results indicate that in most studies, indicators of income from oil exports and GDP growth rate, unlike the global financial crisis variable, have a significant positive correlation with the index of human development. In addition, the variable associated with the quality of governance have not a significant impact on the mentioned index. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
