Abstract

The article examines differences in maturities in the U.S. treasury market compared to other countries including Canada, France, and Mexico. The relative lack of long-term investment instruments from the U.S. government is described along with interest rates, the rate of return on federal treasuries is compared unfavorably with corporate bonds, and a statement on liquidity in the treasury bond market is offered from multiple investment advisors.
