Abstract
- This paper presents the first dysprosium(iii) complex, [{(<superscript>MeMe</superscript>ArO)<subscript>3</subscript>tacn}Dy<superscript>III</superscript>(THF)] (1<superscript>Dy</superscript>), that shows oxygen-sensitive luminescence. The synthesis, structure and oxygen-sensitive luminescence properties of 1<superscript>Dy</superscript> are reported (Φ = 0.050 and τ = 17.7 μs under N<subscript>2</subscript>, Φ = 0.011 and τ = 4.1 μs under O<subscript>2</subscript> and K<subscript>SV</subscript> = 305 M<superscript>−1</superscript> in THF; K<subscript>SV</subscript> = 0.0077%<superscript>−1</superscript> in polystyrene film). The oxygen sensitive mechanism of 1<superscript>Dy</superscript> is discussed based on the photophysical properties of the corresponding gadolinium(iii) complex, [{(<superscript>MeMe</superscript>ArO)<subscript>3</subscript>tacn}Gd<superscript>III</superscript>(THF)].
