The article presents the authors' response on the comment of David R. Matthews and colleagues on the article on recommendations for insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes outlined in the American Diabetes Association's "Standard of Medical Care in Diabetes" published in the issue of "Diabetes Care" journal. They agree that there are three treatment options after basal insulin failure. They stress that misapplication of complex therapies can be harmful despite its efficacy during the research.
