Abstract
- Treating all citations in a reference list equally is one of the common practices of citation analysis that have long been criticized. The increasing availability of digital full-text documents now makes it feasible to weigh citations in various ways, e.g., by their frequency or location in the text. In this paper we report preliminary results of a comparison of author citation weighing schemes based on in-text citation frequency, and the citation impact patterns that emerge from them in the field of library and information science.
