Abstract

Several mono- or bis-alkynyl derivatives of general formula Pt<subscript>6</subscript>(μ-PBu<superscript>t</superscript><subscript>2</subscript>)<subscript>4</subscript>(CO)<subscript>4</subscript>X(C≡C–R), Pt<subscript>6</subscript>(μ-PBu<superscript>t</superscript><subscript>2</subscript>)<subscript>4</subscript>(CO)<subscript>4</subscript>(C≡C–R)<subscript>2</subscript> or Pt<subscript>6</subscript>(μ-PBu<superscript>t</superscript><subscript>2</subscript>)<subscript>4</subscript>(CO)<subscript>4</subscript>(C≡C–R)(C≡C–R′) were obtained under Sonogashira type conditions. The new clusters have been characterized with microanalysis and using IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. The crystal and molecular structures of Pt<subscript>6</subscript>(μ-PBu<superscript>t</superscript><subscript>2</subscript>)<subscript>4</subscript>(CO)<subscript>4</subscript>(C≡C–R)<subscript>2</subscript> (R = H, C<subscript>6</subscript>H<subscript>4</subscript>-4-n-C<subscript>5</subscript>H<subscript>11</subscript>) are presented and electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical studies of some representative compounds are also reported.
