Abstract

Auscultation is one of the most ancient and useful techniques for the diagnosis of heart disease. However, phonocardiography has been waning and has largely been replaced by echocardiography. To visualize heart sounds and murmurs for a novice, a mobile graphic system has been developed using a smartphone with an external microphone attached to a chest piece. Original sound waves are visualized in real time and saved on a smartphone. Sound waves filtered with noise suppression also clarify the sounds. The system enables even novice clinicians to see and recognize heart sounds and murmurs at the patient's bedside in real time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
